About the Department

From 2015, M.A. History was initiated as a part of the Department of South & Central Asian Studies, a catch-all department offering courses in different humanities and social sciences. On July 3, 2019, Department of History was established as a separate discipline in social sciences. Presently, the department offers PG and PhD programme in History. The History Department aims to make the students aware of the past and its legacies through teaching, research and extension activities in the context of regional, national and global spheres.

Hitherto, alumni of M.A. History has gone on to pursue PhD at Aligarh Muslim University and State University of New York at Stony Brook. Yet others are working as school teachers with government and private schools, and cleared competitive exams. Students have cleared UGC-NET, CTET and their state-level counterparts.
